2011 In Review

First off I am sorry for not even logging in to my blog for over a year. We have been very busy this year and time and updating has slipped away from us. Here is what when have been up to.

January--

We didn't have any big happenings this month. Shane worked away from home he was in Denver the early part of the year. The boys and I stayed close to home.

February --

Very quiet for us as well. Shane worked in California most of the month, Hadley and Talon and I stayed home, we really should take up a winter sport our winters seem to be boring.

March--

I was promoted to Communications Sergeant. This means better hours and better pay, less time actually taking and Dispatching calls, I love my job and was super excited to recieve this permotion. Not everyone in the family was as excited as I was. Hadley loved when I worked nights, he has called me a nocturnal carnivor. I work mostly dayshift now and he feels he doens't get to see me as much as when I was a night owl half the time. I think he will get used to the adjusment in time. After 6 years of graveyard shifts my body is slowly adjusting to a normal schedual.

April--

Our little cowboy Talon turned 2! Talon is everything about horses and roping. He is our little free spirit and is very different than is brother and keeps us on our feet. He has found a love for Woody from Toy Story.

May--

Hadley graduated from Miss Terri's preschool. He loved every minute of it, so much in fact he graduated on a Wednesday and woke up extra early on Thursday morning dressed himself and was waiting by the door with his backpack ready to start Kindergarten. He cried when I told him he would have to wait until after summer to go to big boy school.

We visited the Kennocott copper mine, I think Hadley was in Heaven.

We planted a garden for the first time. Hadley did a great job watering and pulling weeds. He kept the garden in good shape.

June--

This was a very busy month for us. Hadley turned 5 and to celebrate we went to California. We did not tell the boys until we where in the car ready to go. We spent the week at Seaworld, the beach and exploring the USS Midway a retired Naval ship.

Talon LOVES Elmo....he is a little large in person and it scared Talon to tears. It was a relief to me I didn't think he was afraid of anything.

Both my Grandpa Jay and Shane's Grandpa Wiarda served in the Navy the USS Midway was really neat to see.

July-

July we were off to more rodeos and went to South Dakota to celebrate Grandpa Wiarda's birthday. It was great to see family members we have not seen in years. The boys had a great time with Grandpa Dingy and with their cousin Harrison.

September-

The boys had a great time at Francis Frontier Days. Talon has pretty much stole his Dad's horse, Bucky is a Champion lead line horse. I don't think Talon could have been more proud of his trophy.

Finally time for the first day of school, Hadley was so excited to ride the bus. He has enjoyed every minute of school.

On mothers day, we had family pictures taken. This was the greatest gift I could have asked for I love pictures of my boys forever memories saved. I have always wanted pictures with the horses because they are such a big part of our lives. The story of Royal and I started long before the Story of Shane and I. Shane's family raised Bucky so the history for the two of them go way back, and starts before I met Shane. Both horses were young colts when we met, now they are consistant old men that have been there done that. Of course Newt was added. He is part of the family although he is full of energy and not the best to hold still for pictures. The pictures of Hadley and his pony Badger are priceless along with Hadley roping. Talon shows off his smile and personalilty of the happy baby. Nichole with Lazy C Photography came and took our pictures and I LOVE them. She caught great shots even when we were not all cooperating. She really captured the boys personalities with her work. Here are the sneak peak shots she has sent.

Monday is our Anniversary time has gone by so fast. We have been married for 7 years! I love you Shane you are a great Dad and Husband.

Most of my posts are about the boys. Shane and I have been busy too.
Just an update.

A couple of weeks ago I heard about a program for teaching running wimps like me how to run. I am on week 2 of the 9 week program and I am looking forward to my next run. Talon and Newt have made great running partners. Talon loves the stroller rides, I don't hear a peep out of him unless it is a giggle or a whee. Newt likes to make our time in to hunting excursions, earlier this week he found 3 mice and a young fox. I guess his hunting and tracking instinct are coming out.

After a winter of not doing much Shane and I have started going to some more barrel races and ropings. I am running a young horse this year and I am really excited about the summer. Mister is super talented and the fastest horse I have ran. We raised him and ran him on the track before sending him off to barrel training. I bought my WPRA card this year in hopes of traveling with Mom and Shane. Last year was boring sitting and watching. Royal is sound and ready to go, now if my work schedual will allow me to rodeo.

Shane has been busy roping and is very happy to have a sound Bucky to rope off of. We have spent alot of time trying to get Bucky's allergies under control so he could be rode. We think we have found the magic feed for the poor guy and he is back to feeling great. Another young horse he has been working with is working great also. Socks has really stepped up so Shane has two horses ready to rodeo this summer.

We had family pictures taken on mothers day, I can't wait to see them. Great pictures of my boys is the greatest gift I could have recieved.
The boys and Shane made be breakfast in bed. Hadley ordered me to stay asleep until it was done. Most people think dandalions are weeds, Hadley thinks they are beautiful and picked them for me.

Last fall Hadley started preschool and has loved every minute of it, this week he graduated . Along the year he has learned colors, numbers, letters and songs. He had weekly homework that he loved to do. I am hoping his enthusiam for learning continues until his college graduation. We are proud of you buddy keep up the good work.

I can't believe how fast the last year has gone by. April is birthday month for Talon. He is the light of my life and always makes me smile with his toothless dimple grin. We spent the whole week celebrating. We went to the Living Planet Aquarium, Talon loved watching the fish swim. Hadley loved the sharks and he and I pet the sting rays. We all loved watching the penguins they were worth the price of admission in it's self. The highlight was the train table, both boys have enjoyed it. Hadley even more than Talon. We had a party and Grandma and Papa's Talon loved all of the attention and the play time oh and the cake.

Christmas 2009

Ok I know it is almost April, I also know Christmas is in December. This is how bad I have been slacking at this blogging thing. I started my Christmas post in January and I must have forgot to post it, as I was attempthing to fix some pictures on my blog tonight I realized my Christmas post was a "draft" and never posted. So here you go, pictures to follow. Apperently I have taken so many pictures in the last 4 years I have successfully filled my photobucket account that takes 1000 pictures! So until I upgrade my account I am limited on creating slideshows.

I think Chrismas is more magical each year. Our house has been very queit without a dog around so we decided to get a Black Mouth Cur. Newt came to us Christmas Eve and he was 8 weeks old. The boys love him. Finally Christmas was here. Hadley had everything planned out. He wasn't leaving cookies for Santa, he wanted to leave his favorite snack carrots. One for Santa and one for each reindeer. It is hard to be three on Christmas Eve but we finally convinced him to go to sleep. He woke up to just what he asked for a red barn. Talon was happy with the paper and boxes but enjoyed the toys too.

Slacker

I know I have been slacking on my posting latley. I really don't have a good excuse. We are all glad winter is turning to spring. It seems this winter has been very long. The boys are growing so fast. One year ago we were preparing for baby brothers arrival. Talon didn't have a name yet. This year we are watching him change daily. Hadley is a great big brother that watches out for Talon and actually loves to play and share with him. I have my fingers crossed this continues.

We have all been sick at our house this month. I took the boys to the Dr last friday and was amazed at the fact they are only 10 lbs difference. Hadley better watch it or he will only be the older brother and loose the big brother title to the baby. Shane thinks they will be sharing the same size clothes by this time next year. I wouldn't be amazed if he is right.

Talon is almost walking and he has started to whistle. It started when he would call the dog. He would yell "Aaaaa" then attempt to whistle. Now he seems to whistle as he does everything. It reminds me of my Grandpa Atkinson.

Breaking News
Hadley is showing intrest in things that are other colors of green and other things than tractors. This is big at our house. For most of his 3 1/2 years Hadley has only wore green and only played with tractors. Usually the month of March works with his green shirt obcession we don't have a problem finding green to wear. The other day Hadley came home from preschool with his schedual for the month. It was noted that the kids need to wear green for St Patricks day, I mentioned it to Hadley and he told me he didn't want to wear green. He also told Grandma green is no longer his favorite color he now likes all colors. Yea! I have been buying boxes of crayons for the green one now we can use the whole box. Today I picked him up from Daycare and he refused to color the shamrocks green, he thought they should be red.

We bought a new used car that looks just like our old car we wrecked a couple of years ago a blue VW Passat. This made Hadley very happy. He has thought I needed a blue car and mentioned it over and over every time he saw a car commercial or we past a car lot. I am glad to have a car again it is fun to drive but I miss my truck too.

Talon is a busy body pulling up on everything and even standing on his own. It is just a matter of days and he will be walking...maybe he dosen't seem to care much. I think Talon is going to be our little cowboy. He can sit for a long time on the rocking horse (one of the best buys I have ever found at kid to kid) he knows that he is suposed to rock and tries his hardest. The cutest thing I have ever seen is Hadley climging on the back to "help" Talon. They are so cute togeather, they now play and I can only imagine the trouble they are going to cause in the years to come.

Talon is quite the eater, he has taken to real food and can out eat Hadley. He loves veggies just like Hadley they must get that from Shane I am the sweet tooth and non veggie eater in the family. He eats and eats then gets the look Shane gets that he is so full then eats more. I think Hadley will always be the older brother but he won't be the big brother for long.

It is getting warm outside, I am ready for spring. I finally have weekends off and went to my first barrelrace since November. I have been working with Mister our young horse all winter. He aquired a new name from me "Whoa son of a B" at the last race we ran at when he wouldn't stop at the gate.I hope we can go back to just calling him Mister. I hope we can continue his winning ways of last year when Edria was riding him. He is a fun horse and by far the fastest horse I have ever ran. Royal, Einstein and I are all out of shape we are all getting a little older and found our metabolism is slowing. I am excited about this year and the talented trailer full of horses I will have to ride.

I turned 30

I know it has been a long time since I have posted. I will get you all caught up tonight with several posts. Not much has changed with us. The new year has brought more travel for Shane and his work. We have set new goals we hope to acheive in the new year. I turned 30 at the end of December. As a little kid 30 was that number that made a person old in my mind. I decided as I turned this magical number I was going to make myself happy this year. The new year brought me Lasik surgery thanks to my hubby and his great job connections. My life as I knew it changed on Jan 7th. In less than a half hour my life of glasses and contacts and part of what had always described me was no longer needed. The surgery was less than 20 minutes and I sat up and could see foggy faces. They asked if I wanted to leave my glasses and donate them and I didn't have to think about it. My vison has improved everyday since and I am so happy I did it. I have also made it a goal to get myself and Royal back into prebaby shape. We have both become soft in the middle and not what we used to be. I have been working hard since right after Christmas and been happy with the results. So far it is Jan 26th and my New Years resolutions are still in place, we will see how it goes.

South Dakota

December was filled with family and fun at our house. We were able to make the trip to Sturgis, SD to celebrate the College graduations my brother and sister in law Trent and Beth. It was great to see everyone and Hadley was very excited to see his Papa Dingy. Talon had many firsts, he made his first trip to South Dakota, meet his Great Grandpa Wiarda and swam for the first time.

2009 Polar Express

We started the Christmas season with a ride on the Polar Express. This is one of Hadley's favorite movies, we are fortunate to have it so close to home AKA the Heber Creeper. We bundled up and the boys wore their PJ's, Hadley insisted they match. We went to the Northpole and talked to Santa. Hadley told him he wanted a red barn, a tractor with a plow and a choo choo train. This was Talon's first look at Santa but he was curious by the jolly man and his white beard.

Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Unfortunatly I had to work on the big night but it takes us weeks to prepare so I did get in on some of the fun. Hadley worked very hard on carving his pumpkin, he cleaned out the guts all by himself. He rememberd he needed a big spoon and even thought to get his gloves out when the inside was a little cold. I helped him carve it just how he liked it a tractor. I am pretty sure it is the first tractor pumkin and if you didn't know that is what it was you may not have guessed.

This year Hadley was very vocal about what decorations we could have. He thinks almost everything is scary. For the record only pumpkins and itsy bitsy spiders were ok.

Hadley decided months a go what he wanted to be. Anyone that knows him could guess...a green John Deere Tractor. He is very specific too. This year it had to have a cab, I drew the line at a bucket. I say this year because he has been a tractor before. Shane and I spent hours on his costume. He had fun at his preschool party then ditched the costume to run door to door with friends. So pretty much he looked like Hadley all of the other 364 days of the year.

Talon went as the most adorable pony. He was happy just watching everyone. He is now crawling. He took his costume a little to serious and tried to eat grass as I was trying to take pictures. He didn't know what to think of the grass.

Talon is not quite crawling on his hands and knees yet but he can get where ever he wants to be. Hadley is so sweet to Talon he loves to read to him, he likes to share his toys and I am enjoying every minute of it. I am sure there is a day coming soon when they will fight over those same toys, for now there is peace in our house and the sound of giggling boys instead of fighting.

Shane has surgery yes this is a new post

Shane had knee surgery on Friday he is getting rebuilt by the Orthopedic Surgeons he works for. This surgery went well and he was a much better patient this time around. Talon is almost crawling. He gets on his tummy and kicks his legs and moves his arms I know soon he will be off and moving. Talon now loves his Johnny Jump up. He can spend an hour jumping non stop. He loves to scream and make noise, he is still as happy as ever and a cuddle bug (I love that). I have just been working this week, not much sleep when I am working nights and the boys are home during the day, when I am not working I have been trying to catch up on sleep. I tried decorating for Halloween but Hadley thinks everything except pumpkins and itsy bitsy spiders are scary. I put a witch and bat in the window and he cried until I took them down. We will be starting his top secret halloween costume. I bet no one can guess what he wants to be ummm it is green and always on his shirt. Pictures to come later.

Shane flys out

We had a week where we didn't get to spend much time togeather as a family. Shane had to work all week, I know normal for most people many more working days than he is used to latley. He worked in state on Monday then found out he was to fly out to Wisconson Tuesday early morning. He left for the airport before Hadley woke up. Hadley is always full of questions. The word why is half of what he has to say anymore. He didn't know Shane was leaving and asked why, what is Wisconson, what color plane is he on? It also snowed this week. I HATE snow, so I was really depressed. The first day it was just a little bit that melted as fast as it fell. Hadley couldn't wait to go out and play. I really wanted a picture of Talon with the first snow but he was asleep and by the time he woke up it was gone. The next day there was enough for Hadley to play in. He insisted on wearing his snow pants, snow boots gloves and ugly old hunter orange hat. He had fun, it made me sick to have snow on the first of October. Hadley came in from playing and wanted to start his Dear Santa list. I guess in the mind of a three year old snow means it is close to Christmas. I reminded him of halloween so we then had to draw out his costume. He dosen't want a store bought costume so Shane and I better get building I am sure everyone can guess what he wants to be and yes he has already been this before we should be getting good at building it.

Talon has figured out how to jump in his Johnny jump up and make his activity center go around. He thinks he is pretty cool. I switched him to a bottle with handles and he thinks it is neat to hold his bottle to eat and be able to play all at the same time.

I am finally on weekends off so I can barrel race. I decided to leave Royal home and only run Einstein in Ogden this past weekend. Royal was not happy about it. I hit a barrel the first night then had two clean runs. Not as fast as I would have liked but I was clean.

Mom and Edria both had a good time in Gillette last week. Mom placed in the 2D two days and out of the money in the 1D the other. Mister had a great showing placing 10th in the Average against 130 of the top futurity horses in the country. We are excited for him to be coming home after the American West Finals and are very Thankful to Edria and Russ for making him such a super horse. Now we get to decide who runs him. Right now we have 5 nice horses running and sound ready to go and only a 4 horse trailer. I guess there are worse problems in the world, I am thankful to have that kind of horsepower to choose from. Now if I only had the time to ride them all and do them justice.

Talon is sleeping through the night

Talon turned 5 months old this week, he is an amazing happy baby that has changed our lives. He has started sleeping through the night. He has slept all night off and on but latley he has gone 4 in a row. I am hoping this is becoming a regular thing he has never been a bad sleeper but there is nothing wrong with 8 hours or more of consecutive sleep.

Hadley started Pre school this week at Miss Terri's. He was really excited for his first day. He woke up at 7am got dressed at 2 bowls of oatmeal and was waiting at the door with his backpack on ready to go. To bad for him that school starts at 10. After a two hour wait that seemed like forever he was off to school. The teacher wasn't sure he was three because of his small size I assured her he is 3 now closer to 3 1/2 just has an over active metablisom lucky kid he weighs a whopping 29 lbs. It made me kind of sad that he didn't even care that I left he is such a big boy and idepndant. He didn't know anyone in the room but waved goodbye as he was walking away. Day 2 he had a tough day, he was frustrated attempting to use scicors. I guess I had never thought of giving my 3 year old scicors so he had no idea how to use them. We did homework bought him some and he practiced and was ready to go back to school.

I finally was able to go to a couple of barrelraces. I have really been felling in the dumps not running much latley. A good added money race fell on my weekend (a tuesday night for you people with a normal schedual lol) Royal and I ran slow but it was a good slow run and in the money. Einstein and I had two clean runs that is always a good thing.

Shane went to a couple of ropings over the weekend. He continued like most of the summer he roped good but came home with no money, that seems to be his luck. He will try again this weekend.

Mom and Dad are headed to Gillette to the Fizz Bomb Classic. Mom and Popeye have been in the 1D money alot latley, hopefully they can continue. They are kicking butt at jackpots. Edria is running Mister, this is the biggest Futurity Mister is entered in Edria has been riding him great. I hope they have some great runs. Dad is excited to watch his horses run and be the Driver lol. Wish I was able to go, I admit I am a bit jelous of all of their travels, I know they are having a great time and the horses are running great!

So much has happend

It has been a month since I have updated my blog. So much has happend in the last month starting with very sad news. Just hours after my last post my Grandma Buell passed away. She was one of the greatest women I ever met. We will miss her greatly. Love you Grandma

The week following Grandma's funeral was hard. We made our way to Salina for the barrelrace. Mom had qualified for the Fab15 and she and she and Popeye had a great run of a 15.9 she followed that up with a 15.6 on Sunday. Royal and I only ran on Saturday we had another good run with no money. Shane entered the mens race on Badger to be in the drawing for the rifle he thought it would be funny if I led him. I knew his competitive side would win out over the clown side of him and he ran Royal. They had a good run no money. Seems to be a theme with us. Hadley was excited about his run, he had been getting ready for it for weeks. He had a shirt picked out, he needed green bell boots for his pony. His work paid off he had a good run or well a trot. I was injured both my toe and pride during his run. Hadley was talking as he was trotting home, I looked back as I was running leading him to make sure he wan't falling off and Badger stepped on my toe. It was dislocated and broken. I fell face first yep that was embarassing. Hadley didn't even notice he was waving to the crowd, he is not shy at all I am sure he gets that from his Dad.

My broken toe and I went to Vegas for a week of training My coworkers and I had a great time and learned from all of the workshops. There were several great inspiring speakers.

We also had Papa Roy's birthday. I think Hadley had the most fun, he loves to sing Happy Birthday he practices for a whole week for eveyone's birthday.

Shane turned the big 3 0 he now thinks he is old. I think he took this birthday pretty hard. I have tried telling him you are only as young as you feel. For now that was not a good comment. With a bad shoulder and a sore knee 30 is pretty young compared to how he feels. He is now having his knee scoped next month. Yes our health insurance company loves us.

Today we went to the horseshow at Francis Frontier Days. Hadley was very excited about riding Badger. Friday he practiced riding Badger by himself in the round pen. He had fun with keyhole, barrels and musical horseshoes. Shane got to lead him this time my toe is steal healing. I have a new favorite picture of my boys. I asked Hadley if he would share Badger with Talon and he gladly said yes. Hadley looks so big in this picture.

Talon rolls over for the first time

This evening I went in to find Talon the oppisite direction in the crib and on his stomach, he had a look on his face of yeah now how do I get back. We have been working on rolling over and he hadn't mastered it on his own until then. He is growing so fast. I took some pictures of Talon as finshed a bath and noticed I have almost the exact same picture of Hadley and almost the same age. I can see simulariies in them yet they are so different. I think Hadley looks and acts just like Shane, while Talon looks more like me and is shy, easy going and happy like me.

This week has been a long week. I know Shane is trying to be a good patient and I am trying to be a good nurse but I sure hope he gets feeling better soon. Wednesday Shane was feeling pretty good and had his first good nights sleep since his injury. He went to work and over did it. He has been paying for it ever since. I have been trying to let him rest and to keep the house mainly Hadley quiet we have gone to some barrelraces this week, I have been working weekends and haven't ran in quite a while. On Monday I went to Coalville for the Summit County Barrel Bash. Royal continued his streak of running past the first barrel, I am not sure why but we will be figuring that out. He was in the 2D one place to fast for the 3D money, he won this race a few years ago and I know we can do so much better so I plan to work and change some things before Salina next weekend. Einstein on the other hand made me very happy. We had a good run not great but it was smooth clean and in the mid 1D. Mom and Popeye had a crappy run got lost and still made a check lol, latley she and Popeye have been on a hot streak for checks and doing great! They continued that streak at Heber Wednesday. We were running late getting to the arena had both the boys and three horses to run. Not much warm up and mom was first out of our three and took the lead, then I ran Royal he was about a 1/2 after her and then I ran Einstein and he ran faster than Royal again. Mom and I were the only horses in the 1D and both got checks, Royal was in the 2D and also got a check. We decided we must over think our runs lol.

Hadley wanted to bring Badger along, he rode him after the race. He wanted to run the barrels and that means Mom has to run the barrels lol, it was good practice, he plans to run in Salina in the 10 and under class, I need to be in better shape. I took a great picture, Hadley says Badger is his best friend and he loves trains latley. The arena is right across the road form the Heber Creeper how exciting is that! This weekend I plan to run again and try to get Royal figured out. I have started to scan and post some of our rodeo pictures, non of them are very recent.

Shane has surgery

Last year we really used our auto insuance. This year our theame seems to be Hospital bills. Friday night Shane was up for a rematch with a Diamond G horse he rode in Ceadar City earlier this year. In their first meeting Shane rode but the horse didn't buck enough for him to place. This time he had a new plan to get her to come out of the chute better, it worked and she bucked very well and bucked him off. He came down and landed on his head and shoulder breaking his collar bone in three places. He ended up staying the night in the hospital, lukily Shane has an in with a great group of Orthopedic Surgeons that he works with. They agreed to do surgery on Saturday generally they don't work weekends. Shane was in surgery for 2 1/2 hours he came out with a plate and 8 screws. He is home now resting and healing, he hopes to be back to work next week. He hopes to be roping again by the end of September, I think it will be quite a while before he will be riding broncs again.

Talon has decided he is big stuff. He is no longer satisfied laying down and watching all of us. I bought him a Bumbo so he can sit up and he thinks it is great. Talon also started on rice cereal this week, so far he is not sure what to think of it.

Hadley is becoming the best big brother Talon could ever ask for, and the best helper I could ever want. He is great at getting things for me. He loves to pick out clothes for Talon to wear (guess what it is usually John Deere green lol) Hadley thinks Talon is getting big enough to play with him. He is constantly giving him toys hoping he will pick them up, finally this week Talon has started too. It is so cute to see Talon look at Hadley and smile. I have been working weekends so I haven't been able to run much latley. I have been riding when I first get home from work at 6:30 am. This has it's advantages the boys are asleep and it is nice and cool. I have gone to one race in Morgan, the ground didn't really treat any of my horses well. Royal ended up 3rd in the 1D. Einstein and I had our first run in almost a year and he was in the bottom of the 1D. I also ran Bucky but he seemed kind of lost, in all fairness to him he hadn't seen a barrel for 6 months besides one practice the week before. I felt like it went fairly well. I am going back to weekdays soon and can't wait to run. It hasn't been fun listing to Shane and Mom talk about how well rodoes are going this year.

Shane wins Evanston Rodeo series for the second year in a row!

We have had a busy July. We have been going to rodeos as much as possible. Shane can now say he is a back to back Evanston Rodeo series Saddle Bronc Champion. He won the year end and a nice buckle, he hasn't got it yet I will post pictures later.

Mom and Popeye are finally getting together. They won their first rodeo this weekend. I wish I could have been there to compete with Shane and Mom and see them both win the rodeo. Unfortunately I am working weekend nights so no rodeos for me for a few weeks.

I went to Salina a couple of weeks ago. I hit a barrel friday night, that is not very common for us. The rest of the weekend Royal had nice consistant runs but not in the money.

Hadley went camping for the first time this weekend. Shane went to a roping in Salina and I was working so Grandma took him to Strawberry to meet Kory, Michele, and Luann. Kory took Hadley fishing on the boat and he loved it. He doesn't like smores, he wouldn't eat it. He did however eat alot of salad. I am not sure if he is my kid lol.

Talon is just as happy as ever. He has started laughing out loud now. He smiles at everything and easy going. He is growing out of his 3-6 month clothes. He is a good rodeo baby and likes to travel, he keeps grandpa entertained while we all compete.

Hadley is really enjoying Jake the new dog. They can play for hours. I bought a huge bottle of bubbles for them. Hadley blows them Jake jumps and eats them. They also play frisbee and ball. We have never had a dog that will bring the ball back to a 3 year old and be patient while he trows it. They both have a love for water and the slip and slide. Just about everyday they run through the sprinkler. I have never seen a border collie like water as much as Jake.

Mom, Talon and I made a speedy trip to Ft Collins Colorado Monday. In Salina our friend Edria was running Tac and he made a great run, the best he had ever ran there he tied for second in the 2D on that run. After the run he was three legged lame. Luckily our vet was at the race and took xrays to find he had broke his P2 bone. We were going to take him to the new Vet surgical center in Park City then found out the vet was out of town until Friday. So after a weekend of barrel racing we loaded up in the truck at 4:30 am and drove to Colorado State University. We made it there about 11:30 and they had good news, the bone is broke but the chip is old possibly before we bought him 9 years ago. They said it was a lucky break usually western discipline horses don't have a clean strait break like his. We expected surgery and to stay in Colorado for a few days and now we have found it must be a soft tissue injury instead. He is on stall rest and doing much better. We drove strait home and pulled in the driveway at 11:45. Talon was such a trooper and handled the 15 hours in the car seat well. I have to say the facility at CSU is amazing, it is a teaching vet hospital and they can provide wonderful care. I am glad we didn't need their services. We are hoping Tac is back running soon.

We have decided to name the new horse Rocky. He is fitting in well and seems easy going.

Talon meets Papa Dingy

We had a busy week. Shane's Dad came to visit, this was his first time meeting his second grandson Talon. Hadley was very excited for him to be here and even shared his bed. Talon showed Papa Dingy how happy of a baby he is. Thursday Shane and Dingy went to a roping in Morgan, they both won money. Friday we all went to Lehi to watch Shane ride a bronc in the rain. Saturday we went for a nice ride over Soapstone and up Mill Hollow. We found a tree that my Dad carved our names in back in 1992. We continued the tradition and carved our names in a near by tree. It finally was warm enough for Hadley to slip and slide, he thought this was great.

Both of the boys went to the Pediatrician this week. Hadley for his 3 year check up and Talon for his 2 month check up. Hadley is still a peanut weighing in at a whopping 27lbs 6 oz he is only in the 3%. Talon is going to outweigh him soon he showed up on the scale at 11 lbs 15 1/2 oz right on track at 50% I guess he is not as chunky as we thought. He does have a big head he is in the 90%. Talon had to have 3 shots it was heart breaking to hear him cry.

We got a new horse, he still needs a name. His registered name is Mr Chewie, however Kory, Michele and Ryan have a dog named Mister and a dog named chewie so he needs a unique name anyone have any suggestions?? He is 4 years old and a full brother to our futurity colt "mister" Mr Famous Cashanova.

We are looking forward to celebrating the Birthday of our wonderful country this weekend and have plenty of rodeos to go to.

Shane gets crushed by a Buffalo Heifer

Shane gave me a heart attack this weekend as I watched him ride his bronc Buffalo Heifer Evanston. The horse flipped over on him in the chute. I was hoping it was not going to be a repeate of almost exactly 3 years ago when I jumped the fence wearing flip flops 9 months pregnant with Hadley to get to him when he got hurt in the same arena and was taken by ambulance. This time he was ok only a little sore and some brusis on his legs. He went on to ride and managed to land in the muddiest part of the arena. Shane was one out of the money and we have decided that should be his middle name this summer. He is making good rides just always one out. Shane also rode at Cedar City, he was able to hit this rodeo on his way home from working in California. His new job is working out well for his rodeo schedual.

Mom and entered three rodeos and drew up in a 12 hour time frame for all three. We started out in Evanston. The arena was a muddy mess thanks to all the rain we have been getting. Mom and Popeye had a nice run and got a check. The next morning we were on to Morgan for 7 am slack. Royal worked very well and we ended up 3rd, we then raced to Herriman for 9:30 slack where neither of us made money. Friday night our friends Bryan, Kendra Cheyene and Serria came to visit and bring a mare to breed to Bucky. We are always glad when we can see them. Hadley "talks" to Cheyenne on his phone all the time and asks about her. This was the first time we seen Serria, she was born 1 day after Talon.

We had a good Fathers Day, we just spent the day at home and had Dinner with my parents and brothers family.

I can't believe Hadley is now 3!! In the past couple of weeks Shane and I celebrated our 6th Annivershry and now Hadley's birthday. Time is going by so fast. I asked Hadley what kind of cake he wanted expecting his answer to be "a tractor". He surprised me by requesting "a green choo choo train". I thought I would be creative and was going to build an awsome train cake. Well a 2 almost 3 year old has the right to change his mind and Hadley did. He decided he wanted "a construction site cake" I wasn't able to find much in short notice so his cake was a little plain. I even had to steal toys from his room for the cake. It was a hit either way, he wanted to drive thru the cake, I made him wait until we cut the cake. He had been singing Happy Birthday to himself all week and loved it when we all sang him the birthday song. We had big plans to ride the Heber Creeper on his birthday myself, Hadley, Talon along with Grandma, Great Grandma Buell and Great Aunt Luann were ready for a train ride but the now constant rain runined our plans, we ended up going to The Train for lunch where Hadley played with the toys trains and I gave him a promise to take him on the train when the weather gets better.

We have had a busy week. Shane had two PRCA rodeos and a roping this weekend. I posted the video from Logan, the arena was a muddy mess. The rain has been great for our new lawn, but making the rest of our plans a muddy mess. Hadley loves the rainbows it brings and has even colored a few. Talon is getting used to the rodeo trail, I think he likes it. He is really starting to have alot to say and he kicks and smiles all the time.

We now have a lawn not a dirt and thistle patch. I am so happy. We spent Friday laying sod until we went to the rodeo, what a difference. I am glad Hadley was happy about the grass too. After we finished the back yard we were off to the rodeo. Shane didn't have very good luck, he and his header were on young horses, Socks handled his first trip to town very well, Shane's header's horse stopped to check out the barrier so they got a no time. Shane rode his bronc but it wasn't enough of a horse to get a check on. Mom and Popeye made a beautiful run but hit the third. I was the only one to get a check, last hole but at least it covered my entry fee. Royal ran well, we are both out of shape and he was out of run by the time we got back to the eye. Shane and Hadley spent Saturday laying sod, and going to Price to the rodeo. This was Hadley's first rodeo as a big boy only going with Dad. He went behind the chutes with Shane, he hung out with some of the other saddle bronc riders while Shane rode. Hadley called to tell me Shane was bucked off and there was stupid wind at the rodeo. Talon and I had plenty of wind in Rock Springs, but I had a little better luck placing Sunday, mom also placed in the open and seniors. Edria and our futurity colt had a good weekend placing 4th in the first go against some tough horses and made the finals and placing in that go as well. Royal and I are working on getting back to the old us, I love running him. This summer marks 11 years since we bought Royal and he has let me live out my dreams of barrelracing come true.

After 7 wonderful weeks off work to spend with my boys I am now back to work. Hadley didn't want me to go back. I think he is relieved to be back at daycare to play with the kids, I was getting boring. He wanted to wait up for me because only mom can put him to bed, since I am working graveyards that wasn't going to work and he finally let Shane read to him and fell asleep. Hadley is calling himself a bulldozer this week, he changes his personality of construction equipment often, he demands to be called by what ever he is at that time it is so cute. Hadley's birthday is coming up next week he is very excited to turn 3!

We attempted to get family pictures taken. No one wanted to cooperate even me lol. Hadley wanted to play with the toys, Talon was grumpy not normal for him. Here are some shots that we have got back. Thanks Krystal for having patients with us.

Talon is getting bigger by the day, his favorite pass time is eating. Talon is fitting in 3-6 month clothes and some of them are getting tight. He is so different than Hadley was at this age. He is a very happy baby only cries when he is hungry and we haven't got the milk fast enough for him. He smiles all the time and loves to watch Hadley play and listen to his stories and songs.

I am excited to post that we are getting sod tomarrow. I am afraid Hadley is going to be mad, he has loved playing in the dirt back yard, he has told us he dosen't want grass.

We got another new dog, Jake is a full brother to Izzy but much calmer and looks like a border collie. He follows Hadley around. Izzy is looking for a new home so if anyone wants a dog let me know.

We are all headed to rodeos this weekend, the boys are splitting up. We are all up in Evanston Friday night. Then in Hadley is going with Shane to Price to the Pro rodeo where Shane is riding Saddle Bronc. Talon and I will be going to Rock Springs with Grandma and Papa for the Red Desert Classic.

We have found a new dog to join our family. Our house has been pretty quiet since we lost Duke. Hadley has been asking for Cassie to spend over and sleep in his room so we thought it was time to find him a dog to play with. She is 6 months old and is mini aussie/ border collie mix. I think she looks like Ranger and I haven't decided if that is good or bad. Hadley likes her but she needs to learn some manners. Her name came from Izzie off of Grey's Anatomy. I had missed most of the season finale and as mom and I were talking about it and thinking of a name we thought it would fit.

We are finally making improvements to our yard. We had topsoil delivered and Hadley thought that was neat to have a big pile of dirt in his back yard. While Hadley, Talon and I went to a barrel race in Salina Shane spread the dirt to get ready for sod. This made me very happy, on the other hand Hadley had a breakdown over it and was really mad at Shane. I couldn't understand all he had to say but I think it was a good thing. We are hoping to get the fence up and sod down this weekend. I am so excited. I planted tomatoes and stawberries so I am hoping the nice weather keeps up.

Myself and the boys went to Salina with my Mom and Dad this weekend for a barrel race. It was Talon's first overnight trip. He did really well and is a traveler. I am glad to say Hadley is potty trained. A weekend away from home was going to be the test. He did great no accidents, he just went where ever he was sometimes mom was embarassed but he went good thing he is not shy and a boy. My horse Royal had a reaction to his vaccination and had a swollen neck. I didn't know if he would be able to run so we took our futurity colt Mister that Edria Day has been running as a back up since Einstein is not in shape yet. I have not rode him or even been able to watch Edria run him. He is an awsome horse that has been doing well in futurities and I knew he was alot of horse power. My runs went well, he even out ran Royal. I was very happy with our runs for not knowing each other. Mom and I had nice runs this weekend but was not in the money.

Shane travled to Vegas for his first PRCA rodeo in 2 years. He had a good horse and rode well, but like me was out of the money. I hope our rodeos get better this summer.

Talon is growing so fast. He is now out of some of his 0-3 month clothes. He is smiling more and more each day. I am still amazed at how happy of a baby he is. Nothing seems to bother him, he just seems to go with the flow as long as he has milk.

Happy Mothers Day! I woke up to Shane making breakfast...a poptart. He is so great at the holiday thing NOT! It was nice just to be home with my boys and Shane. We had a lazy day. We had dinner with my parents, my brother, my Grandma Buell and Aunt Luann. It was a warm day and Talon spent most of it outside under the shade of the umbrella. This is the first time he has been able to hangout outside. Shane was nice enough to shoe Einstein for me so I can get back to riding him YEAH!! The rest of the horses are looking good. I am excited for Salina this weekend it feels like it has been forever since I have been to a big race. Hadley had a ball playing in the dirt (what he dose best)

Sorry it has been such a long time since I have posted. The computer got a virus (no not the swine flu but just as bad)

I have really been enjoying the time off work to spend time with the boys. With Shane's nice work schedule we have been able to have a lot of family time lately, it has been wonderful. I decided Talon was old enough to go out and about so we cold start on the list of fun things I wanted to do while on maternity leave. First thing on the list was the Dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. The billboards near the freeway say it is the largest in the world and none of us had been there so we thought it was time to go. It worked out as a reward for Hadley's fabulous potty skills, he has been doing great! (Having Hadley potty trained and sleeping in his own bed were other things on my to do list) I told him we would go to a fun place if he continued to use the potty. Thursday morning I told Hadley we were going to see the dinosaurs if he went potty and he told me "no they are scary" this was odd coming from the kid who is not afraid of anything. We convinced him they were not scary and when we got to the museum he was very excited. I don't think it was what he imagined. He was bored very quickly and wanted to go to Cabella's to see the fish. Shane and I enjoyed the exhibits and wished we could have read more of the displays it was very interesting. We then went to Cabella's and Hadley was able to see and feed the fish. We spent good money for him to see old bones and all he wants is to visit the free fish he really is an Odenbach when his idea of a great day is going to Cabella's.

Talon is getting bigger everyday. He is lifting his head more everyday and doesn't mind his big brothers rough kisses and hugs. He is starting to enjoy bath time much more. He is such a good baby he dose not cry very often but squeaks and growls all the time. His newest and mom's favorite is that he has started to smile. I haven't been able to catch this event on the camera yet, hopefully soon. Hadley has became very good at singing and telling Talon stories. He wants to know when he will play with him. The other night Hadley wanted to dance with Talon and lift him like they do on Dancing with the stars. I had to tell him no but was laughing at the same time. I have caught Hadley sharing his juice and chocolate milk with his brother. The cutest thing I have every seen was when I caught Hadley singing Twinkle Twinkle little star to Talon. I heard it through the baby monitor and ran to the other end of the house to try to catch the moment on video I did get the tail end of the song before he noticed and was embarrassed by my filming.

I have started riding again and went to a barrel race last weekend. I am definatly out of shape. My core muscles are gone lol it is going to take a lot of work to get them back. Mom kept Royal in shape for me so he is ready to go. She enjoyed running him but is very glad to give him back. She thinks he is a pain in the butt so I don't have to worry about her stealing him. It will be much easier to get running again when there is only one of us to get back in running condition. Einstein had a not so enjoyable winter off. He has been in shape since he was on the track at the age of 2. He is now 11 and had his first long vacation. He is a workaholic and didn't enjoy it as much as he should have. He will take some work to get back in to running condition. I have to agree with Einstein in the fact that I missed riding too. It feels really good to be back on a horse again. The 7 months I went without riding is the longest break I have ever gone without riding a horse.

We have had an eventful week and a half since Talon was born. Well not really he eats and eats and eats sleeps alot and fills alot of diapers. He is growing an extra chin every few days and has kissable chubby cheeks. I love that! Hadley never had an extra ounce of fat on him so I have never had a baby with chubby cheeks. I am still in love with his dark long hair. It has curl to it when it is wet. I style it in a frohawk I figure it may be the closest I will get to styling a girls hair. He has already grown out of all of the newborn clothes and some of the 0-3 month. He is growing so fast. We go to the Dr on friday I will update his weight then. Hadley is a great big brother he is very careful around Talon and always makes sure he is ok. He loves to share toys with him even though we have told him he will have to wait to play. He has to watch us do everything to make sure we are doing it right. He loves to help feed and bath him. Talon dosen't like baths as much as Hadley. So he tells him "its ok"

On sad news we had to make the decison to put Duke down on Saturday morning. He has been so tough with his injuries the last couple of months and was doing great. Shane took him to the vet Friday and they were still amazed how he had pulled thru and was using the leg they suggested we amputate. Around midnight Duke started having a siezure and they didn't stop. Even with his medicine he never came to and was still having siezures in the morning but was in a coma not responding to us. Duke was an amazing dog and we miss him already.

Our long awaited baby brother arrived right on time Thursday. We had planned to be induced and Talon knew his cue. I started having pretty regular contractions at 3am. I was up packed and ready to go to the hospital as soon as they called. We got the phone call that they had a room ready at 8:15 and we got to the hospital about 9:30 and in a room around 10. We didn't see a nurse for a while so we tried to relax in the room. Nothing good seems to be on TV when you are waiting for something so exciting to happen. Finally a nurse came in and they started my IV's and pitocin around 11. I was dialed to a 4+ when I was first checked and progressed quickly. The first nurse came in to confirm I wanted to have him natural with no drugs and I quickly confirmed I wanted an epidural ASAP lol. I was told both anaesthesiologists were in surgery so I would have to wait. The contractions started getting very strong and close together and I was dilated to a 6+ on the next check still no Epidural in sight. Finally the Dr came in and gave me an Epidural and it hurt. I don't remember the one with Hadley hurting that bad. Soon after it started working I was told I could start pushing that the baby's head was close and that he has alot of dark hair. I pushed through 4 contractions and he was born. We had a small scare when Dr Ponder said she was cutting the umbilical cord because it was caught. I was scared but it was just around his shoulder. The delivery was a great experience and short. He weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 1/2" long just a little bigger than Hadley was. We had the names narrowed down to Jhett and Talon and Shane and I decided he looked more like Talon. Since everything went so smoothly and Talon and I were doing so well we were released after 24 hours and came home Friday afternoon. Hadley loves his baby brother but still won't say Talon he is just "baby brother". He has also said that he is a "big backhoe" and Talon is a "little loader" lol. Everything has to be in tractor terms for him. He is so cute and loves to kiss him.

False alarm

Well we made a trip to the hospital Sunday afternoon. I was having contractions and thought my water was leaking. We drove all the way to Salt Lake to the hospital checked in. Shane complained about missing the new Simpson's episode, I threated to pop his head off. All was said in love I promise. Then they told us I wasn't in labor and not leaking but I was having contractions and dialted to almost 3 cm and 80% efaced so I am ready to go as soon as he decided to come out. With Hadley I didn't have a single contraction I just went in for my 40 week apointment and found my water had been leaking I didn't know and his amniotic fluid was dangerously low so they enduced me. Now I am paranoid the same thing will happen. I am here at work typing now having contrations wishing I was in labor. I plan to work tonight (monday) and tomarrow (tuesday) graveyard shifts and then start my maternity leave Wednesday afternoon when I wake up. I will be in a good sleep pattern for the baby to come home I think by working graveyards.

Shane has decided Kolter is no longer on the list. There are to many Kolter, Kolten and Kolts with the spelling K or C around so now the names are narrowed down to Roan, Talon or Jhett. I know no one likes Roan except Shane and I, Dad and Rosie but it is still on the list. Sorry mom.

We celebrated Easter on Sunday. If all goes well I hope to becoming home from the hospital with Baby brother Saturday and didn't know how I would be feeling. I hid easter eggs for Hadley and Ryan they had fun finding them. It was easy hunting the bright colored egges in all the snow we have had recently. I was glad to spend time with my family even though we all live on the same street life is busy and at times a week goes by without us seeing each other.

Pregnant and Shingles not fair

I went to the Dr yesterday and the baby is still doing great. I lost a pound this week but the Dr wasn't concerned. I have gained around 45 lbs with this pregnancy so I think I can stand to loose one lol. I am still dialated to a 2 1/2 cm so she stripped my membranes hoping that would help me start naturally so I didn't need to induce. If that dosen't work we are still planning on Thrusday April 9th. I have been having contractions and I feel like I will (hoping is more like it) have him before Thursday so everyone help me out and cross your fingers. I have been feeling pretty miserable. I have had a stinging sensation that was getting more painful on my upper stomach, at first I just thought it was my skin stetching to make way for the growing baby. It has now gotten more painful and reminded me of when I had shingles in 2003. I called my OB last night and yep my shingles have made an apperance again I wonder what could have me stressed to make them reappear??? So now I am on medication to help them I hope the pain gets better. At this point remembering labor with Hadley and shingles I believe the shingles were more painful so I am wondering what shingles while in labor will feel like.

The boys made it home late Sunday night with no truck problems. They had good weather in Nebraska and Wyoming and didn't hit snow until Utah. From Coalville to home was the worst part of the drive. I am just glad they are home safe with out incident.

Duke went to the vet today and had all of his staples and drains removed. This is huge for him. He looked like he had a zipper along his entire side. The shoulder still looks bad but is healing. He uses his leg more everyday.

This week Hadley and Shane went to South Dakota for one last trip for Hadley as an only child. Hadley was very excited to see Papa Dingy. They left home and had to stop in Oakley just 5 miles away and Hadley asked "are we at Papa Dingy's?" Shane told him "not yet" the question was asked several times on the drive. Shane said Hadley handled the long drive great. He really does like to travel. I don't know many adults that can handle a 15 hour drive better yet a 2 year old better than him. I am hoping his little brother is the same way. They got their late and went to a farm sale the next day. Hadley was in heaven seeing tractors, combines, and other farm equipment up close and personal. He is still obcessed with anything to do with tractors so this made him happy. Friday night they went fishing with Papa Dingy, Uncle Trent and Aunt Beth. Shane said Hadley had fun and picked out a green fishing pole right off. He really enjoyed his first fishing day except when Uncle Trent ate his hot dog lol way to go Trent. They were going fishing agian today. The best part was a successful drive with no vehicle problems! I am hoping for good weather for them to come back in and the good truck luck to continue. I stayed home from South Dakota afraid to travel that far this close to delivering. Knowing our luck I would have ended up having the baby at a vet office in Ogalla Nebraska or something. I went to the Dr on friday morning and the baby is still doing great. I am already dialted to 2+ cm so the Dr told me to pack my bag. He might come sooner than the 9th or I could stay at a 2 until then.

Great update on Duke. He is recovering well and has to see the vet every week. He is now using the leg they thought would have to be amutated about 80% of the time. His shoulder still looks nasty and is having a hard time healing. The side has several staples that look like a long zipper but that part is healing better than expected. Everyone at the vets office thinks he is one tough dog and so do we.

Missing Ranger poor Duke

On Monday our family had a horrible day. Duke our border collie came home in a bloody mess, and Ranger the pup has never came home. Michele thankfully seen Duke and I rushed him to the vet. They were able to save him and he still might have to have his front left leg amputated. We are assuming Ranger died. Shane, Dad and Michele all spent hours looking for him. Hadley is concerned about Duke and his "big Owie" but he hasn't asked about Ranger yet. We are not sure what we are going to tell him when he does. Duke's injuries are complicated by his siezures we are hoping his siezures stay under control and he dosen't get infection. He is doing better than expected he is such a tough dog.

On a happier note we schedualed the induction for April 9th offically. So unless baby brother decides to make an apperence before that the 9th will be the day. So now we are counting down 1 month from yesterday. Now I feel rushed to get everything done.

Shane is going to Torrington Wyoming this weekend for a Saddle Bronc riding. He is hoping to pick up where he left off last fall. Shane was riding better than ever I hope he dose well.

I have been having wierd cravings this pregnancy. Two weeks ago I really wanted Key Lime Pie so I made one for the very first time. Last week I started craving fried okra and ranch. For everyone that has never heard of okra it is a vegtable that is deep fried and yummy. I grew to like it during our time in Oklahoma. I searched all the local grocery stores and didn't even find anyone who knew what okra was. Shane searced out some frozen okra at the super walmart in Springville and made it for me along with shrimp. It sounds like a wierd dinner but it hit the spot. I have also been having horrible heart burn and only found the multi sympton rolaids work. Kamas Food town has had a good supply throughout my pregnancy but I have finally bought them out. I have searched all the stores in Park City and Heber and found a spot on the shelf for them but none left. Shane included this in his search for the Okra and found empty shelves. Mom and Dad came to the rescue searching the stores in South Jordan on the way back from a barrel race and found two bottles hopefull it will last me for the rest of the pregnancy.

This is a picture of my Tactical Dispatcher Class in Redding California. This day we were out of the class room and were planning to run senerios with the Shasta Regional SWAT Team. Our training was cut short when they actually had a bank robbery in progress that turned in to a high speed chase that ended in the suspect wrecking at the outlet mall where we had gone to a movie two nights before. The SWAT team had to go and we ended our training early.

This is the Shastacom Command Post. We wish we rode in this to SWAT call outs.

Here is the bear cat. We decided we need one of these for our SWAT team. The cost around $350,000 so we are still waiting lol. It is pretty much bullet proof. The windshield is the least bulletproof and it can handle a 50 caliber bullet at close range.

Hadley and Shane have took up swim lessons. In the fall I took him and we had a great time so this time Shane gets to take him for some father son time for the last few weeks Hadley will be an only child. Shane was out of town last week so he took him to the pool Thursday to make up for it. He had alot of fun. He told Shane he was scared of the small slide lol he has gone down 30 times by himself but convinced Shane to take him down the big 2 story yellow slide 5 times. Today they went for actual lessons and had a great time. I went to the Dr this week and everything is looking good. We are planning to enduce April 9th. Little Brother is still measuring a couple weeks ahead and is very active. Next visit we get to see him one more time in an ultrasound to make sure he is head down. I am certian he is I can feel him hiccup all the time. Earlier in the week we picked up the double stroller or choo choo train stroller as Hadley calls it. He is rather attached to it already. I bought it at one store then found it $40 cheaper so I took the origanl back he cried. He has decided he gets the front and baby brother gets the back. He is getting excited for the baby.

Valentine's Day

We had a dinner at home this year. I had a yucky double back shift working friday night until 10 pm and then back at 6 am for V-Day. Friday night I came home late to the smell of fresh baked brownies cut in the shape of two hearts and hand made crayon cards from Shane and Hadley. They were so cute and much better than a store bought card. Saturday night I came home to steak and Lobster dinner that Shane had cooked and got to eat with my boys. It was a great holiday. Hadley really enjoyed the day going to a barrel race with Pappa and Grandma and liked the bag of treats I left him to find. This week Shane traveled to Bloomington MN for work training. He is really enjoying the cold and sight seeing at Mall of America lol. He dosen't think it is fair that I get to go to California while he gets to travel to Minnesota in February. Either way he is enjoying his new job. We have been busy getting ready for the baby. It seemed like forever until he would be here then suddenly I realized I don't have much time left. We are working on setting the nurshery up. Hadley was nice enough to move across the hall to the big boy tractor room so the baby can have his old room. Hadley is starting to understand but I don't think he is ready for what changes are going to happen like sharing us with the baby.

Latley it seems Shane and I do nothing but work. Shane is really enjoying his new job. He really likes the travel but is looking forward to next month when he dosen't have to travel quite so much. I get a mini vacation next week AKA SWAT Dispatcher training in Redding California. I am looking forward to getting out of the snow. Shane gets to travel to Minnesota later this month for training, I don't think he will get out of the snow ha ha. Hadley has fun where ever he goes and has been spending more time with Papa and Grandma while we work so much. I went to the Dr last week and got the news that the baby is now measuring 2 weeks ahead at this rate he may come early. We are still undecided on a name so I have posted a poll. We want all of you family and friends to let us know what you think of the names we have it narrowed down to.

Shane's new job!

So far 2009 is starting out better than 2008 did for us. Shane got the offical word that he is hired with Sightpath Medical that is part of TLC Vison. It is the best of worlds for him, he gets to travel he loved that part of his salesman job and will be doing surgery again it is full time pay but he works only a few days a week so he can still do construction on his days off.

He now has a van to drive (he is so thrilled to be a Chevy van driver lol)

We had a great Christmas at our house. Hadley was so excited and so cute this year. Santa came through with his request for a red Fire Truck in fact he must have been really good Santa left two. He also got a Choo Choo train and a remote control tractor. Hadley is moving to his big boy tractor room this week, he got a John Deere tractor bedroom set, a huge wall clock taller than him, and a JD Piggy bank from Aunt Beth and Uncle Trent. Grandpa Odenbach, Trent and Beth all came out just after Christmas to spend some time. Hadley loved them being here. We are hoping for better luck with vehicles this year and are anxiously awaiting the baby in April. We hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!

Christmas week

This week has been another exciting one around our house. Hadley is very excited about Santa and is hoping he brings him a "big red fire truck" he has been a good boy so we will see what Santa has in store. I was really bad this year and didn't get family pictures or Christmas cards sent out. I am sorry to all. Yesterday Hadley and I went to the Dr yesterday for a follow up ultrasound to try and get the views of the baby's heart and brain that they couldn't get before. They were able to get the pictures and everything looks good. He is measuring 8 days ahead of his due date and very active. Hadley watched the Ultrasound and was very interested and thought the sound of the heartbeat was neat I still don't think he understands what is going to happen. He tries to put on all of the baby clothes. We are excited to see all of our family this week Dingy, Trent and Beth will be here on the 26th. We hope to see the Smith's that day as well. I am hoping for good weather for all of them to travel.

Today Hadley, Ryan and Grandma came to walmart for the shop with a cop to see all the Cops drive to Walmart and to see Lifeflight bring Santa. Hadley thought it was loud and he also thought it was neat. I don't think he even cared about Santa he was more excited about all the cop cars with sirens blaring and the helicopter. It was great to help out with such a great cause. Disadvantaged kids from the county get a chance to shop with a cop at Walmart for Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.

We woke up this Thanksgiving morning to find all the windows broken out of our white Dodge. Someone threw rocks in the all the windows and broke the speakers inside. There is a little body damage. Shane is guessing around $4000 worth of damage. There were alot of other cars and mailboxes hit troughout the valley so I am guessing it was totally random, just our luck! Here are some pictures. We are going to try and save the rest of Thanksgiving and make it a good day with dinner at Mom and Dad's.

Polar Express

We had our 2 exciting days. We love the new carpet. Out living room looks completly different. I will post pictures of before and after when we get the trim up. I stayed home sick and Hadley watched the Polar Express movie 4 times. He gets very worried when the train is wrecking on the ice and feels like he needs to "fix it" so he gets out his John Deere tools and fixes his small trains lol. He was so excited he wore himself out and fell asleep on the way to Heber. He woke up when we got there and loved the train. He seen Santa and got a bell from him. He loved singing Christmas songs. Now all he wants for Christmas is a Choo Choo train. We will have to see what Santa brings ;)

Well everyone who voted on the poll guessed wrong along with me. I was so sure I would be shopping for pink today, but we are having another baby boy. He is very active and not shy at all (just like his Dad and big brother lol) I didn't need the ultrasound tech to tell me he is a boy he was clear in his pictures to let us know. Everything looks good in the ultrasound 10 fingers and 10 toes and everything where it should be. He wouldn't stay still for the Dr to look at everything she wanted so I am going back on December 22nd for another ultrasound of him. I will try to scan pictures and video and post later.

On the other big news, ok really small news when you put it in perspective but still big. The pink carpet is offically gone from the living room and bedroom and the new carpet is being installed as we speak. I am so excited. I have HATED the pink carpet from the day we bought our house. Shane has been so great working this past week espically the last two days sheetrocking and tearing the awful paneling out. He and I stayed up until 2 AM this morning mudding and painting to be ready for the new carpet. I will post pictures tomarrow.

Hadley is on a count down to ride the Choo Choo train tomarrow he is so excited he can't sleep at nights. He has become obcessed with the moon and the stars and after reading the Polar Express book so many times he watches out the window expecting a train to come to the house lol. Heber is the closest traintrack so we will be there tomarrow night with PJ's on (Hadley not me lol) to see Santa.

Big Week

We have a big week this week and Hadley is very excited. We are working on remodeling our living room. Mom is helping us with the carpet for our Chirstmas present, and Shane is sheetrocking the walls and puting in a new window. It should be done by Thanksgiving. As most of you know I HATE the pink carpet in our house so this will be great. Monday we finally have the BIG ultrasound to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl!!(Watch for updates) we have been looking forward to this day since we found out I was pregnant. Tuesday we are going to Heber to ride the Polar Express. Hadley loves Choo Choo trains latley so he is very excited. We have been reading the Polar Express book everynight and I have been looking for the movie for him. He informed Shane the other day he couldn't go, only he and Mom could ride the choo choo with Santa. We are hoping he will change his mind lol. We are all looking forward to Thanksgiving on Thursday not going far just to Mom and Dad's but spending time with family and eating good food is always great.

Hadley has been sick all this week and miserable along with scaring us. Shane and I stayed up with him all night on Friday watching him sleep and make sure he was breathing ok. Shane took him to the Dr on Saturday and they confirmed it was the Croupe and gave him a liquid steriod and tylenol. It made him feel better. He weighed a whole 26 lbs at almost 2 1/2 years old. He sounds much better today but dosen't make a very good patient. He wants me only and dosen't want Shane's help. He just wants to sit on my lap and isn't happy sharing it with the baby. He told the baby to move the other night I tried to tell him that the baby couldn't lol.

I am working weekend graveyards right now so that means Hadley gets to stay at home with me. He loves it. We read everyday and I love that. For a while he wouldn't hold still long enough to read a short book. Hadley has finally found some other intrests besides tractors. He says he wants a red Fire Truck and a Choo Choo train from Santa. I keep trying to change his mind from a Fire Truck to a Cop car but he tells me No lol. He knows that cop cars and fire trucks are "like mom's work". It is so cute. He seen snow for the first time since last January and didn't want go out side he was happy just picking up snow off of Duke's back. The baby is moving alot, I think we are going to have another active one. Hadley doesn't like sharing my lap with the baby.

Hadley had a great Halloween. Here is a picture of Hadley (pumkin) Ryan (something from star wars) Blake (batman) Tyler (cow) He was a pumpkin becuase I am a mean Mom and wouldn't buy him the Pottery Barn banana costume he seen a magazine. He has been insiting he was going to be a nana for the last several weeks right up until Halloween morning. We went trick or treating with Ryan, Uncle Kory and Aunt Michele. Shane stayed home to pass out candy and play doh but we only had Jana Lee's kids. Hadley trick or treated like a big kid. I stayed in the truck while he walked to the doors with Ryan. We only went to about 20 houses of people we knew but he got alot of candy (Shane and I have been eating it lol trading him for the play doh I bought to give out). He was so tired when we got home.

Yesterday I went to the Dr for my monthly appointment. Not much news except a strong fast heartbeat. My BIG ultrasound was moved up by one day (hey evey hour counts when you are so anxious for something) so the big day is now November 24th! We will know as Shane puts it a stick or a crack lol by Thanksgiving. Hadley is very excited to Trick or Treat and is very in to Halloween this year. We got the rest of his costume yesterday. Bob the Builder is out he wouldn't wear the tool belt or hard hat Shane thought he could go as a John Deere mechanic that carries his tools in a bucket?? His costume wasn't any different that what he wears everyday so we came up with a new idea. He went next door and made cookies last night with Aunt Michele and Ryan. He loves to go to thier house any chance he gets. Michele said he loved the frosting. When he came home he wasn't sure he wanted to share "mine ookies" in the end he let Shane have a ghost and I got a pumpkin. We are carving our big pumpkin tonight and Hadley is so excited. I will post pictures.

Bad week

For all of you that know how are luck with vehicles has been this past year, the bad streak continues. We went to South Dakota a week ago to visit Shane's family and hit a deer in Nebraska. It totaled out our VW Passat. Our red Dodge truck is not running now, it broke down on Shane at the begining of the month when Shane was in Montana Elk Hunting (thanks Kimmie and Carrie for rescuing him!) The car is replaceable and all of us were ok. The saddest news came when Shane's mom passed away Saturday October 18th from her long battle with Breast Cancer. We were greatful to be there to help Dingy, Trent and Beth plan the services. We spent the very hard week with Shane's family and came home last night. It is going to be hard for us for a very long time. Hadley is to young to realize what is going on.

Dr Visit

I went to the Dr today and everything is well with the baby. The heartbeat was strong and the baby is moving alot it kept moving away from the Dr's monitor. I schedualed my Ultrasound for the 28th of October so we should know boy or girl on that day. I am still having alot of morning sickness well it is all day sickness, I know whoever named it morning sickness must have been a man.

Shane left for Idaho to go elk hunting with his Dad and Uncle Lee. He has been looking forward to this trip all year. I hope he gets a big one.

Hello everyone, the RMPRA finals didn't go as planned. Popeye found something to spook at around every barrel. So I went back to Royal Saturday night. He shocked me not in a good way he went past the first barrel. All of you that know Royal know that is not like him. It hasn't done that in 8 years or more. Shane thinks he went tempralry blind in one eye lol. I think Popeye told him there were boggie monsters to watch for. I won't be running much until after the baby is born. I plan to continue riding. Shane and Mom will take turns runnng Einstein and Royal this winter. Hadley rides every chance he gets. He loves Badger. He brushes him and insists on having reins to ride. We have been doing alot of work around the house. Shane has put in the back fence nice drill pipe and chain link. He should have the dog kennel done before he leaves for Idaho. We have been working on the inside of the house to. The master bathroom has been a work in progress since we bought the house and I am proud to say it is almost done and looks great. Shane is learning alot at work about finish work and putting that to work at home. Hadley loves to help "fix" things. After seeing Shane't tool belt today I think he will be Bob the Builder for Halloween. Shane is meeting his Dad next week to go Elk hunting in Idaho. He is really excited and starting to pack. I will update in my next post if he gets the big one.

RMPRA Finals

Not much new this week. I am working graveyards so Shane and Hadley are home alone at nights. Hadley runs the house and tells Shane what to do and where to sleep lol. This weekend is the RMPRA finals in Heber. I qualified in 10 place for the year only going to a few rodeos. I am borrowing mom's horse Popeye, I think he will run faster than Royal in the indoor arena. It could be interesting, I haven't ran him in years and he is very quick and alot of fun to ride. I will update next week after the finals.

Hadley competed in his first horse show on Saturday in the Pee Wee barrels on his pony Badger. He won a Trophy and some Tonka Truck fruit snacks.

We went to the Dr on Tuesday and found out I am not as far along as I thought. I am 7 weeks 5 days so the new Due date is April 16th! Shane and I got to see the baby on the Ultrasound and hear the heartbeat. Everything looks good. I will post the ultrasound pictures when I get them scaned.

Hello everyone. I decided to start this blog to stay in touch with all of our friends and family across the country. We have had an eventful year that has taken us from Utah to Oklahoma and now back to Utah. Hadley keeps us very busy he is obcessed with Tractors and loves to be outside. He turned 2 this past June. We just found out our family will be growing. We are expecting our second child in the spring. Stay tuned for updates! I work at the Summit County Sherriff's Office as a 911 Dispatcher I have been here for 4 years this fall. Shane is currently working construction and enjoys the work and being outside out of the sterile environment of the OR he has worked in for the past 6 years.
